The National Educator's Workshop builds upon 22 years of annual workshops aimed at improving science, engineering, and technology. Each year the workshop has enhanced the quantity of useful information provided to the participants while maintaining quality and relevancy.

The National Educator's Workshops strive to provide current science and technology information to participants that focus on materials science, engineering, and technology education through the following activities:

  • Engaging in small group workshops at hosts agency/institution facilities and laboratories
  • Obtaining useful resources and updated information
  • Observing, evaluating, and obtaining a resources including technical updates from industry and education experts, classroom demonstrations and laboratory experiments
  • Interacting with fellow educators and industrial specialists  

The NEW: Update series has provided over 7000 participants with the latest developments in material science and technology while offering strategies for improving teaching techniques. These N.E.W. Update participants have seen over 600 experiments and demonstrations presented live or on videotape and have been provided with supplemental notes for replicating the experiments. Peer review and publication of the experiments and demonstrations have provided the materials education community with current, valuable aids for teaching and research.
